Rula Halawani

Rula Halawani is a Palestinian artist and photographer who lives and works in East Jerusalem. She is the founder and director of Birzeit University’s Photography Department, the first academic training program of its kind in Palestine.  Rula’s work demonstrates a strong relationship between art and politics through the depiction of various aspects of Palestinian life.

Rula photographed the villages of An Nabi Salih, ‘Abud, Mazra’a al Qibliya, and ‘Ein ‘Arik for RIWAQ’s Registry of Historic Buildings.
